    Frequently asked questions

It is advisable to consult a fertility specialist if you have been unable to conceive after 1 year of regular, unprotected sex. From the age of 35, it is advisable to start fertility treatment after 6 months.

Infertility treatment is not completely free in Estonia, but in certain cases it is subsidized by the Health Insurance Fund.

If a woman has been diagnosed with infertility, has health insurance, and is up to 40 years old (inclusive), the Health Insurance Fund will reimburse the costs associated with infertility treatment, including doctor’s visits, procedures, and pregnancy testing.

    Important to know:
The initial consultation and tests to determine the cause of infertility are subject to a fee for all patients, even those with Health Insurance Fund coverage.

The duration of fertility treatment depends on the chosen treatment method and individual response to treatment. For example:

    • IVF (in vitro fertilization): it takes approximately 4–6 weeks from the initial consultation to embryo transfer.
    • IUI (intrauterine insemination): can take place within 1 month, depending on the cycle.
    • If donor eggs are used or additional tests are performed, the process may take a little longer.

If the first attempt is unsuccessful, the next cycle can begin after a few months.

    • Doctor visits/online consultations, ultrasound examinations, analyses (except for patients covered by the Health Insurance Fund)
    • Donor sperm (anonymous) from Next Fertility Nordic biobank
    • Ordering donor sperm (including Open ID) from other biobanks (e.g. Cryos, ESB, Fairfax)
    • Long-term storage of embryo(s) at Next Fertility Nordic biobank (from the 3rd month, €1/day)
    • Pre-implantation genetic testing, PGT-A SMART PLUS
    • Each subsequent FET procedure with EmbryoGlue solution
