What is fertility preservation?
Fertility preservation, or egg freezing, is recommended for women who want to delay family planning. If at a later age a child cannot be conceived naturally, it is possible to use your own oocytes, which you have previously frozen, and fertilise them outside the body (in vitro fertilisation, IVF).
Freezing eggs does not guarantee a baby, but the use of frozen eggs at a younger age in later infertility treatment significantly increases the success of the treatment and the likelihood of a healthy baby.
What is the cost of the treatment and what does it include?
Freezing up to 10 eggs costs 1500€.

Frequently asked questions
Age is the main determinant of female fertility. As the number and quality of oocytes starts to decline in the early 30s and decreases significantly after the age of 35, it is advisable to freeze oocytes before then. In order to increase the chances of having a baby later in life, we recommend freezing eggs 2-3 times.
Frozen oocytes retain the quality they had at the time of freezing. The younger the woman before the egg is frozen, the higher the quality of her eggs. Next Fertility Nordic clinic’s embryologists have many years of experience in freezing eggs and usually 90% of the eggs are preserved after thawing.
Oocytes stored in cold storage can remain frozen for years without affecting their viability and potential for future conception. There is no limit on the length of time that gametes can be stored in Estonia, but it should be borne in mind that in Estonia, artificial insemination is allowed for women up to the age of 50.
The oocytes are retrieved during a short (10-15 min) procedure using a mild anaesthetic. You may experience slight discomfort or drowsiness as a result of the anaesthesia, so it is advisable to rest and avoid exertion on the same day before returning to your normal routine.
