A balanced diet plays an important role in supporting both overall health and fertility. Making the right nutritional choices can help prepare the body for pregnancy, support hormonal balance, and promote well-being throughout your fertility journey.
At Next Fertility Nordic Clinic, we offer professional nutrition counselling for people who are planning a pregnancy, undergoing fertility treatment, or simply want to make more informed choices to improve their health.
Who is nutrition counselling for?
Nutrition counselling is suitable for you if you:
- are planning a pregnancy
- are starting or undergoing IVF treatment
- want to support egg or sperm quality
- want to improve your eating habits
- want to lose or gain weight in a healthy way
- would like evidence-based recommendations on dietary supplements
Counselling is suitable for both women and men.
What happens during nutrition counselling?
During the consultation:
- your current eating habits are assessed
- possible vitamin and mineral deficiencies are reviewed
- personalised recommendations are provided to improve your daily diet
- suitable dietary supplements may be recommended if necessary
- realistic goals are set that can be incorporated into your everyday life
The aim is not to create a strict diet, but to find solutions that fit your lifestyle and support your long-term health.
Food Intolerance Test
At Next Fertility Nordic Clinic, you can also have a blood test for food intolerance, which can help assess the body’s response to different foods.
It is important to understand that food intolerance is not the same as a food allergy. A food allergy usually causes a rapid and strong immune reaction shortly after exposure to an allergen and can be life-threatening. Food intolerance, on the other hand, is a non-allergic sensitivity to certain foods, and symptoms may appear 2–48 hours after eating.
Possible symptoms of food intolerance may include:
- abdominal pain
- bloating
- diarrhoea
- skin problems
- headaches
- fatigue or drowsiness
- digestive problems
- general feeling of discomfort
Because symptoms may be delayed, it can be difficult to identify which foods are causing them. Keeping a food diary is one way of monitoring possible triggers, while a laboratory blood test may provide additional information.
At Next Fertility Nordic, it is possible to test for the presence of IgG antibodies to up to 176 different foods. The test results may help identify foods to which the body may have an increased immune response and support further counselling with a healthcare professional.
Food intolerance test results should always be interpreted together with symptoms, medical history, and, where necessary, other examinations. The test does not replace a medical diagnosis and is not intended to diagnose food allergies.

Frequently Asked Questions
Nutrition alone does not treat infertility, but healthy eating habits can support the body’s normal functioning and form an important part of a comprehensive fertility treatment plan.
Before your first appointment, we ask you to keep a food diary for at least 3 consecutive days and send it to the nutrition counsellor before your appointment. This allows the counsellor to thoroughly analyse your current eating habits and prepare more personalised and precise recommendations.
A food diary provides a good overview of your daily diet, the regularity of your meals, portion sizes, and potential areas for improvement. This makes the consultation more informative and the counselling more effective and better tailored to your individual needs.
The consultation lasts approximately 60 minutes.
